Say Something
I
refuse to be silent.
Let
me tell you why.
One
of my favorite prophets of old is Jeremiah. He had a deep despair for seeing
the people of God destitute. I love how he speaks when God told him to speak to the people on His behalf. Even when he tried to keep silent, he couldn't because
the truth was like “a fire shut up in his bones.” In the beginning Jeremiah
didn't want to speak. He was young and afraid of how the people would respond
to what God was telling him to say. Can you imagine for a moment how Jeremiah
was feeling? But when God told Him not to be afraid, that was all the
confidence he needed.
“But
the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am not a child: for thou shalt go to all that
I send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their
faces: for I am with thee to deliver you saith the Lord.” Jeremiah 1:7-8
But
as you read Jeremiah, you'll see that he experienced all sorts of opposition,
even to the point of giving up. But he didn't. He trusted God, and because he
knew the dire situation God’s people, his people were in, he continued to
speak.
There's
a very important lesson we must learn from Jeremiah. WE MUST SPEAK! We
are told after salvation, old things become new, and we become ambassadors for
Christ- an ambassador with the ministry of reconciliation (God using our voice
to bring the world back to Himself). Therefore, we cannot afford to be silent.
“But
as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as
in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying
and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, And knew
not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of
the Son of man be.” Matthew 24:37-39
Oftentimes
when I'm driving, I think about how there are thousands of people on the road,
each going to their own destination, minding their own business. We all have so
much to do. We’re consumed with ourselves, our daily lives, our future, our savings, our families, our blessings, etc …… like in the days of Noah.
Broad
is the way that leads to destruction but narrow is the way that leads to life.
As
Christians, we know what is coming. If we believe it with all our heart, then
shouldn't this motivate us to take action? It should produce a sense of
urgency in us.
See
the world is crying out for an antidote, and as we scream loud trying to give
them the antidote, they’ll turn away saying that can't possibly be it. Why?
Because they suppress the truth in their unrighteousness. But should this stop
you from sharing the truth? No, it didn’t stop Jeremiah and it shouldn’t stop
you or me. (Of course some people will refuse to listen, but you can’t focus on
them. Share the truth, and if they don’t accept, keep on. The truth that you
share isn’t for them, or it was just your job to plant a seed. Remember, God is
the one who harvest the seeds we plant and water).
So next time you feel God is urging you to share your tweet, write
that status update, write your blog, make your vlog, write your song or book,
walk up to that stranger, call your loved one, snap (not sure how that one
works), or share your bible verse quote on insta that is about a truth that God
has told you to speak, don’t hesitate. God will have your back- as long as what
you’re sharing is in line with His will and leading people back to Him.
Look at it like this, you may share that tweet or bible verse
quote at the right moment someone needed it or the way you write or break
things down is needed for that one person to get a clear understanding by the way God allowed you to convey it. Maybe you have the right type of influence in a certain place and
God is just waiting for you to speak up. No matter what it is, allow God to use
your “voice.” It may not be your actual speaking voice, but whatever
talent/skill God has given you, use it for His glory.
Don't let this world silence you.
Don't let this world silence you.
Be
blessed.
