Say Something
I refuse to be silent. Let me tell you why. One of my favorite prophets of old is Jeremiah. He had a deep despair for seeing the people of God destitute. I love how he speaks when God told him to speak to the people on His behalf. Even when he tried to keep silent, he couldn't because the truth was like “a fire shut up in his bones.” In the beginning Jeremiah didn't want to speak. He was young and afraid of how the people would respond to what God was telling him to say. Can you imagine for a moment how Jeremiah was feeling? But when God told Him not to be afraid, that was all the confidence he needed. “But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am not a child: for thou shalt go to all that I send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver you saith the Lord.” Jeremiah 1:7-8 But as you read Jeremiah, you'll see that he experienced all sorts of opposition, even to the point of giving up.
