Gossip Girl

"Let me tell you what ____ did." "Wow, I can't believe ___ did that." "If I were ____, I would have _____."  You fill in the blanks .  It's Gossip.  gos·sip:  casual or unconstrained conversation or reports about other people, typically involving details that are not confirmed as being true. Well, the conversation may not go exactly like that, but you know how it goes. Gossip is the thing nowadays- Gossip Girl, Gossip news channels, Gossip news columns, Gossip magazines, your momma gossip, your grandma gossip, even men nowadays gossip. Everybody loves gossip. Gossip is one of those things that we just absolutely love nowadays. It's nothing like a juicy story about somebody, especially if you don't really like that person, right? You know what I'm saying?!! Here's the problem though. You know I have to do it, we have to throw some truth on this! Gossip is one of those sins that will creep up on you like nobody's busines...

9 Ways to Stay Connected to God

Image
"These who have turned the world upside down have come here too." These were the words spoken to the rulers of the city against Jason, a believer who housed Paul and Silas on their journey in preaching the gospel in Acts 17. Paul was doing so much for the church and was so dedicated to his call that they said he was turning the world upside down. WOW........ but things have drastically changed.  Do you notice how there isn't much difference from the world and the church today? God's intention was for the church to direct the world in all it's going, but in today's society, it seems like the very opposite is occurring- the world is leading the church. So what's going on?  One of the biggest issue's I would like to discuss here- there's a disconnect between the Bible and applying it to modern Christendom. What I mean is, many people read the Bible, but because many issues that we deal with today aren't directly mentioned in the Bible, we te...

Say Something

I refuse to be silent. Let me tell you why. One of my favorite prophets of old is Jeremiah. He had a deep despair for seeing the people of God destitute. I love how he speaks when God told him to speak to the people on His behalf. Even when he tried to keep silent, he couldn't because the truth was like “a fire shut up in his bones.” In the beginning Jeremiah didn't want to speak. He was young and afraid of how the people would respond to what God was telling him to say. Can you imagine for a moment how Jeremiah was feeling? But when God told Him not to be afraid, that was all the confidence he needed. “But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am not a child: for thou shalt go to all that I send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver you saith the Lord.”  Jeremiah 1:7-8 But as you read Jeremiah, you'll see that he experienced all sorts of opposition, even to the point of giving up. But...

Godly discipline

Greetings my brothers and sisters in Christ, I know it’s been awhile since I’ve posted a blog, but this is one that just kind of happened during a discussion with a friend, and I wanted to share because I know this is a tough one for many Christian parents. There’s a new trend that becoming very popular called positive parenting. I’m not sure how long it’s been a thing, but the idea/heart behind it has been in existence since before my time. As a matter of fact, I believe this is one of the major reasons we have so much trouble in schools. They banned this form of discipline.  I've been looking into positive parenting to see what it’s all about and while I do agree with some of the aspects, it’s important as Christians not to get it confused with godly parenting. Our basis of living as Christians should be based from the Bible and not new movements. As the world waxes worse and worse, it is essential that we stick to the Bible closer than ever before, else we can...
