The Truth

The Truth
Truth-tellers and truth seekers

The truth is a very touchy subject these days. Everyone have their own opinion of what is true and what is not true, but I have a few questions. What’s more true, what I say or what you say? How do we determine what is really true? When we have strong convictions about a certain subject matter, no matter what anyone says, we have a hard time changing our minds or accepting a differing opinion (I’ve even seen people turn to anger when someone express an opinion differing from their own).  But what if we are confronted with the truth? How can we discern what is truth and what is a lie? Can we accept if it is in fact, truth.

Let’s define what truth is. A truth is simply something which is true or in accordance with fact or reality.  It is the quality or state of being true. Truth is just what is. These are some things we can keep in mind to help us determine what is truth.  Firstly, no matter who you are, we all know that there is an absolute truth to everything.  We know that 2+2=4, and 4+4=8.  There is no way in confusing that.  We know that President Barack Obama was the 44th president. We know our bodies have natural healing properties.  We know many absolute truths, but some truths aren’t as obvious.  Like Does God exist or not? What type of diet is the healthiest for our bodies (Paleo, vegetarian, etc..)? What do we do about these types of truths?

One day I was reading through my husband’s book of wisdom (of revelations he'll get and record) in the notes on his phone and I ran across this, "Truth can be applied, tested, and tried and still be TRUTH.  Lies can’t remain what they are under intense testing and trying.  Lies cannot be applied and remain strong and sturdy.  Lies cannot be TRUTH because they simply are not, they are false evidence disguised as TRUTH until the disguise is taken away.”   He applies this when we are trying to make a decision about something or maybe have a disagreement on something.  At the end of the discussion, decision, or the day, the TRUTH will remain true, and it will prevail over what isn’t true or as I like to call it reality.

The problem that mankind have with truth is that we are fleshly beings who are led by our emotions- women more so than men.  We will go on how we feel or our perceived reality at the time and base our truth off of that.  To my Christian brothers and sisters, I encourage you with this- God’s Word is TRUTH.  If you stick to His Word, you will never go wrong, and yes, His Word trumps your feelings.  If you remember this, then it is easier not to lean on your own understanding and trust in God because sometimes, even when it doesn’t make sense, you’ll do it anyway.  We are told in John 8:32 “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” It is because when you know the truth about something, it frees you from a being oppressed by a lie (lies bring on oppression, they are deceptive). If you aren’t living in truth, then you are living in deception, and really you are being oppressed (by a system or way and ultimately by the enemy).

Lastly, remember this, if someone brings their differing opinion to you, it's okay. Everyone  is different and we will all see things differently.  I would love to hear your take on a matter.  Maybe my truth is obscured and God may be trying to use you to show me something.  If after your "truth" has been tried and tested, and it comes out that it is actually true (built upon God's Word), then I am now faced with a challenge, will I accept the truth or continue believing a lie? If it is tried and tested and it comes out to be false, then hey, I’ll still believe the truth that God has revealed to me about that matter.  The problem comes when people become prideful and refuse to accept truth, and truthfully, we know this time was to come.  It was prophesied long ago. Paul spoke to Timothy concerning this matter in 2 Timothy 2: 3-4 “For a time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and shall turn away their ears from truth, and shall be turned unto false fables.” This will be in Biblical truth and also truths dealing with everyday life. No matter, remember the truth will still be the truth whether you believe it or not, and it will only be confrontational if you become prideful and fight against it. So, I leave you with this.  Be a truth seeker because ultimately you’re seeking God, and God is looking for such.  He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). Live a life of truth, and don’t be deceived by the lies of the enemy.

Father, I pray for every believer, that we would diligently seek You.  I pray that you would open our eyes and expose the lies of the enemy so we may live a life of truth.  Allow us to know the truth so that we may be set free- from oppression, depression, and the bonds of the enemy. Unshackle the chains off of our minds. Help to humble ourselves and accept the truth even when it goes against our own feelings and strong opinions- if it be Your Truth because we realize your truth prevails against our truth. In Jesus mighty name I pray, Amen.

P.S. The TRUTH hurts.  It may hurt for you to tell it or to receive it, and also for the other person to receive, but no matter what, ALWAYS speak the truth. Don't cower. God need some truth tellers.
