Fall Back

A song by LeCrae that puts emphasis on how we are sometimes influenced by the world. Media (social and entertainment) has a very big impact on how we live our lives whether we realize it or not. It plays a bigger role in our decision making process than we care to admit.  If you think about it, most Christians spend more time watching television and listening to music than spending time in their bible, so it's really not surprising that the church is beginning to look more and more like the world. *I took some of the lyrics out to put emphasis on some parts. It's a great song!  Fall Back Lecrae ft. Trip Lee Chorus:  I know you might a seen on the TV You hear on the radio and CD(fall back) But you can be deceived pretty easy Believe me... you might wanna (fall back) The enemy crafty and misleading That's why I use the word of God to Lead me And I ain't eating everything they feed me Tryna deceive me... so I gotta fall back [Verse 1: LeCrae] Lies in them songs lies on tel...

Success, Success, Success!

"I will be successful." I'd determined that in my heart and would let nothing stop me. For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to be successful. I dreamed of having a nice home, nice car, a great career- the American dream. A modern day Mrs. Clair Huxtable! Society teaches us all about success- go to school, get a degree so you can have a career. The more schooling you obtain, the more knowledgeable and skillful you become. The more knowledgeable and skillful, the more successful you are. Now I'm not against being successful, but my view/definition of success changed dramatically one day. I asked myself, what does it really mean to be successful? It was at the beginning of my junior year in college and I took a moment and evaluated my life. Where was I going? What's the purpose of what I'm doing? The desire to succeed then was based solely on my own desire and agenda..... until God opened my eyes.       At the start of my junior year at ULL, I'...

Faith to believe

Growing up, I was always around and surrounded by the Word of God. My dad is a preacher who does prison and street ministry (mostly). He was saved way before I entered this world so I was always hearing the Word of God as he traveled from place to place sharing the gospel. That was the one thing he made sure of. I actually felt forced at times to do so to be honest. I always told my mom, "daddy think we are living in the ice ages." Others times, I wasn't shy about expressing how I felt about his conservative practices (not allowing my siblings or myself to spend a night with friends, no "foolishness"on tv (including Disney channel), homecomings and prom? Oh no!) I was a young girl who desired more of what the world offered than what my dad was trying to force upon me. It wasn't until the age of 15 that I actually began to understand the gospel and why my dad did the things he did. I remember talking on the phone with my brother many nights when he was a...

Freedom

Image
“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?” Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. “And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. (John 8:32-36 NKJV) We are free because we know this truth -Jesus came so that we may be free from sin. When we grasp this truth, we are set free. We are no longer slaves that are bound to sin, but through grace we are made sons and daughters of God. We are free from bondage. We no longer are slaves to homosexuality, fornication, adultery, back-biting, impure thoughts, disobedience, hopelessness, and the list goes on. We are now ambassadors for Christ. Who the Son sets free is free indeed- to do a work that will bring glory to His name.

Faith and Passion

Image
Do you have faith? what about passion?  If you want to do something and be sucessful, you must have both. You must have the passion to put forth the action and effort to do it. A doctor doesn't become a doctor overnight, nor does a lawyer, teacher, or nurse. It takes preparation and practice. I'm reminded of my brother, Jeremiah Jenkins, who was dedicated in his pursuit of football. I never was into football, but in high school I would hear everyone talking about how good of a football player my brother was. I watched him and thought he was pretty good myself with the little I did know about football. He had aspirations of going to the NFL, but he never made it for a number of reasons that I won't dwell on. So, why did I mention him? Jeremiah and I are about a year and a half apart so we're very close. When it came to football, I saw his passion. Throughout his high school years, Jeremiah would search the Internet to watch his favorite players. Don't make me l...

Love like that

The song below displays the cry of my heart. Hope you'd take the time to listen to it as you read the words to the song. Two years ago, I prayed and asked God to transform my mind. He began working on me and my desires began to change. I asked Him to give me the desires of His heart and He gave me a heart for His people. Enjoy!  Love like that- Sidewalk Prophets Sometimes I think What will people say of me When I'm only just a memory When I'm home where my soul belongs Was I love When no one else would show up Was I Jesus to the least of us Was my worship more than just a song I want to live like that And give it all I have So that everything I say and do Points to You If love is who I am Then this is where I'll stand Recklessly abandoned Never holding back I want to live like that I want to live like that Am I proof That You are who you say You are That grace can really change our heart Do I live like Your love is true People pass And even if they don't know my nam...
